The listed formats are accepted. Each file's structure is validated before conversion.

What will I receive?

SVG to PNG

PNG stores the decoded image without additional lossy compression and can preserve compatible transparency. It may be larger and cannot restore detail or transparency absent from the source.

Conversion limits

What limits apply?

Up to 5 files, 50 MB each. Encrypted files, animations and unsafe content are not accepted. Structural validation may reject a conversion.

Input and output expire automatically after the period shown in the converter. Download your result before then.

Practical guide

Create a sharp, safe PNG from an SVG file

Converting SVG to PNG creates a pixel image for editors and applications that do not accept vector graphics. A useful result depends on the chosen dimensions, compatible transparency and a careful check of strokes and type after rendering.

Move from vectors to fixed pixels

An SVG describes shapes that can scale as vectors. The PNG has a fixed width and height; enlarging it beyond those dimensions can expose pixels or soften edges.

Objects, layers, nodes and vector text do not remain editable. The PNG is a rasterised representation of the graphic, so choose dimensions for the actual size at which it will be used.

Know what the safe renderer accepts

Formotra validates the SVG before rendering and rejects scripts, remote resources, local files, embedded images and external style sheets. A graphic that opens in a browser may still be rejected if it depends on content outside the supported file.

Rendering uses a versioned set of fonts. If the design relies on an unavailable or remotely loaded font, its appearance may change or the file may fail validation. Check line breaks, alignment and text width in the downloaded image.

Review transparency, edges and fine detail

PNG can retain compatible transparency from the SVG. Inspect the result on the real background: a pale icon may look correct on white and lose contrast on a different colour.

Check curves, thin strokes, corners, small text and gradients at the intended display size. PNG adds no photographic lossy compression, but large dimensions can still produce a sizeable file.

Choose an output for the receiving application

Use SVG to JPG when the destination requires an opaque image and a white background is suitable. For a raster asset intended for a website, compare SVG to WEBP with the PNG in its real context.

If you need the graphic on a document page, SVG to PDF also rasterises it before placement. None of these outputs keeps the SVG as an editable vector.

Frequently asked questions

Can the SVG load external images, fonts or styles?

No. Scripts, remote resources, local files, embedded images and external style sheets are rejected before rendering.

Does the PNG retain the vector quality of the SVG?

No. The result is a pixel image with fixed dimensions. Keep the SVG if you need to edit it or produce another size.

Is a transparent background preserved?

Yes, when compatible transparency is part of the SVG. Check the edges and contrast on the background where it will be used.
