BMP to JPG
JPG uses lossy compression with adjustable quality. Transparent areas are flattened onto white; keep the original if you need its transparency or original detail.

Practical guide
BMP files often contain bulky bitmaps that are awkward for email, websites and upload forms. JPG makes a more practical photographic copy in exchange for lossy compression and an always-opaque output.
Keep the BMP when it is the master or working source. JPG is a derivative for viewing and sharing: it retains dimensions but encodes pixels with compression, so it is not a lossless replacement for the original.
Higher quality protects gradients and photographic detail better, although it can make a larger JPG. For screenshots, type or line art, inspect characters and contours at 100% because blocks and halos appear sooner than they do in a photograph.
JPG has no transparency, so any compatible alpha area is composed over white. When exact edges or a transparent background matter, choose BMP to PNG rather than increasing JPG quality.
Open the result in its target application and do not assume a fixed saving. When a modern destination supports newer formats, BMP to AVIF offers a separate path with different quality and compatibility decisions.
Yes. JPG uses lossy compression. The quality setting balances size and fidelity but cannot produce a byte-for-byte or lossless bitmap copy.
Because JPG has no alpha channel, compatible transparent areas are composed onto a white background before the result is saved.
Yes. Up to five compatible images can be handled in one job. Each BMP produces its own JPG in the same result order.
